Let me be clear here. When I was born the doctor took one look at me and told my mother “that kid is too lazy to even cry.”

True story.

And since that day I’ve been affected by the lazy gene. So when it comes to words like work and rewrite, etc it makes me shutter. So here is how I do a majority of the PLR reworking.

I outsource it.

Seriously – why am I going waste my time working on packages when I can get several people to do the work for me for pennies on the dollar. I’ve had a bunch of things done for me – transcripts, writing, video, editing, etc for less than $3 an hour.

So what I do it look at a PLR package and think about how I would like to look. A new cover, a new name, a few new and additional documents, tools, etc.

Then I head over to an outsourcing place (odesk, elance, etc) and get to work hiring people.

A new DVD type graphic cover with a new name – $15

Transcriptions of audio or video – $2.22 an hour

A quick start guide – $20-30 tops

Then what I would do is this. Get a written document and sell it for dirt cheap on a forum. Think about it – use the low perceived value against the buyer. They aren’t expecting much so you charge dirt cheap prices for it ($7 or less).

Then have an upsell or a one time offer that adds them the total package which is mostly the original PLR package or slightly rewritten.

So you have a rewritten PLR package as a front end and best of all it is totally done for you.

The other thing I do with PLR is take it big and make it small (also something I have been cursed with). Meaning that if you have a mega package of PLR on a topic why not take it and reduce the total size on content.

Most people I know want is a single solution to a single problem. So instead of some mega Twitter on Crack product – why not solve a single problem – like how to get more followers. You can charge less for the package and once they are interested in a single part of the solution – they’ll want more and more and more.

Also because of the lower price it makes it more of an impulse purchase and cheaper than a mega course.

Rotten private label rights articles?

Toxic PLR ebooks?

Radioactive resell rights content?

You might have totally useless…or even stolen PLR. You might be sitting on a steaming pile of dung… private label rights turds. Some products are just completely terrible. They stink! They might be way over used, they might be ripped off and they might be total garbage.

I want to teach you how to avoid the Pit of Doom. The very first step is so simple but so powerful. So, I’ll give you that secret.

What you do is very simple. Take 7-8 words out of a paragraph (i.e., part of a sentence) and drop it into Google. Now, the extra special trick is easy. Just put quotes around that phrase and see what results you get. You will be surprised.

This sneaky tactic gives you a very clear idea about who is using that PLR, how they are using it and where they are using it. Just remember to do this about 4-5 times with longer private label rights content and especially ebooks and reports. You want a good sample. Don’t be fooled with just one Google search.

Simple. Effective.

Take care,

~ John

I used to find private label rights like everyone else – buy everything in site and then let the turds float to the surface. Seriously, the only rhythm and reason for me buying a PLR package was the balance of my paypal account.

Then I tried a few different PLR membership sites but most of them were heavy on promise, light on content, etc. Finally I got tired of it all and did what Dr. Phil would recommend – ask the expert. So when I hooked up with John and Matt I had to ask – where do you guys get your PLR… cause all I am getting is rejects?

While they wouldn’t give me their source (not enough drinking I guess) Matt and John did tell me some great ways to ensure the PLR package I buy next is quality and not crap.

The first thing they told me was to look at the total package including the sales letter. Instead of just glossing over it, I actually took the time to read it. It makes sense because if it is a good outline or it makes me want to buy then chances are it will make others do the same.

Then they told me to contact the seller and request a sample or a peak inside. Again, you can overdo this, but if you are establishing a relationship with a new seller it might not be a bad idea to ask them to see a part of the package to ensure it is what you are looking for.

So quick recap – 1. Ask the experts who they use to get good quality PLR.

2. Read the sales letter for the product and if it makes you want to buy chances are others will want to as well.

3. If the seller is willing, get a review copy of the PLR package to ensure it contains what you need. Only do this if you’re serious about buying it and having an ongoing relationship with the seller.

My last tip is one for me when it comes to buying PLR is this – look for upper end PLR. Meaning stuff that already has video or audio or both for you along with a kick butt graphics package. That way you can always go down (transcripts, fast action guides, etc) instead of having to invest hours in audio and video production.

The real value of private label rights (PLR) is the brainpower you’re buying. That seems like a vague explanation so I want to make it concrete.

Watch this video on the true value of private label rights.

First, high quality private label rights products are well organized. Someone has spent time organizing and categorizing content. This structure is very valuable. An example is a table of contents in an ebook.

Second, excellent PLR is easy to re-use and re-structure and re-write. When someone else has done a good job with a product, it’s much easier to make that product fresh and brand spanking new.

Third, you want to leverage content and brainpower. You don’t want to have to edit and proofread for lame problems. So, high quality PLR won’t have basic grammar and spelling problems. It’ll be crisp and clean, and ready to exploit.

Here’s a very clear 5 minute video explaining these concepts. This is a “live” example for you. I clearly explain the true value of private label rights so there’s no ambiguity. Anyone can follow along!

Man, this is a tough topic. I love buying Private Label Rights and I’m a huge advocate of using them to make a LOT of money…but the problem is that there are so many horrible PLR products out there. From what I’ve seen, here is the aprroximate breakdown of the value of Private Label Rights products available on the market:

Incredible: 2%
Good: 13%
Mediocre: 20%
Mostly unusable: 25%
Completely unusable: 40%

The odds are against you, for sure. About 85% of the time, I’ve found that you’re going to be disappointed with any given Private Label Rights products that you buy. So, why do I still advocate buying PLR products? Simple…if you can you manage to find and use the *best* Private Label Rights content, your profitability will skyrocket. You only need to make a few tweaks to the product, graphics, sales system and so on to be able to make your product sell like crazy.

So, let’s talk about some of the signs that I look for that give me a red or green light for investing in a particular piece of PLR content…

1.) Sales letter of a PLR product. Some private label rights products do NOT include sales copy for you to use, but when it does include sales copy, it often gives you a direct glimpse into the quality of a product. You can often see these sales letters before you buy a PLR product…just ask the author for them. The quality of the sales copy, over 90% of the time, directly correlates with the quality of the product itself.

2.) Length of the PLR product. This area is a bit subjective, as it depends on what you’re looking to buy PLR content for. For example…are you looking for a report to use as a free gift for after a squeeze page? A PLR product between 20 and 40 pages long will probably do the trick for a freebie, but often will not be of sufficient quality to charge for. Very often, reports of this length will lie between the “mediocre” and “completely unusable” category. However, as the length of the product increases, the quality increases, as well.

3.) Price of the PLR product. This is another gray area, as I’ve gotten high quality private label rights products for free, and have bought unusable PLR products for over $100 before. However, as a general rule, the higher the price of a Private Label Rights product, the better the quality you can expect it to be.

4.) Saturation of a product. This is a step that most people don’t take, and it’s really surprising. Before purchasing your product, do a simple Google search for the PLR product name in quotes to determine how many websites are using that exact product. While you can always separate yourself from the crowd by renaming your product and adding high quality techniques and tips to it, it’s good to know how many potential people have already seen a variation of what you’re offering. (Note: On the flip side, it’s also good to know how popular a particular Private Label Rights product has become. You can safely assume that popularity means previous sales.)

5.) Customer support. Before investing in a high-end piece of Private Label Rights content, I often contact the product owner with a small question to test his or her response. If you receive a timely response with clear, helpful language and friendliness, you can probably expect the PLR content to offer the same sort of quality. However, if you receive no response within 3 days, or if you receive a poor response, you may want to steer clear.

Remember, these are just some guidelines I’ve followed…none of them are set in stone, but these “rules” should help you get started with buying private label rights products.

It amazes me that more people don’t use private label rights products. They’re one of the best and easiest ways to make money online. 90% of the work is done for you…you just make a few tweaks to the content and then profit.

Before I begin, let me explain what private label rights actually are…

Sometimes, when people create a product, rather than selling it on the market, they decide to sell the rights to the product. These rights can come in many different forms…

Resale Rights / Resell Rights (RR): You have the rights to sell or give away the article, product, text, video or other product as-is, with no modifications allowed. You do not have the right to pass on the resell rights or resale rights to anyone else.

Master Resale Rights / Master Resell Rights (MRR): Again, you have the rights to sell and give away the content as long as you don’t modify it in any way. However, you also have the right to sell the resell rights or resale rights to others.

Private Label Rights (PLR): This is the ultimate form of resell rights. You have the rights to modify or break up and sell or give away the content as you wish. In some cases, you may sell the private label rights to others – in others, you may not. When you purchase the rights, it will typically give you specific instructions on what you may and may not do with the content.

As you can tell, PLR content offers the most freedom…which means that you’ll be able to use it anyway that you’d like.

Over the next few days, I’m going to show you exactly how to start taking private label rights content and making a killing with it. Stay tuned.

So, what are private label rights? The short answer is that PLR is a way of thinking about how you can use products. Most people like to talk about the actual products… The content, the material, the product itself.

But, that is really is really the wrong way to think about private label rights. It’s about the rights you have. It’s about what you can
do with the products. It’s about ownership and flexibility.

The absolute best way to think about private label rights, in my opinion, is to look at the actual rights. You really must know the
exact rights you get when you buy resale rights (reseller rights) products and private label rights products.

To know your rights you should look for, or just directly ask for, a rights file. Let me show you what that looks like typically. Remember, this is just an example. There are many nuances.

[YES] Can be edited completely
[YES] Can claim full ownership
[YES] Can be added to paid membership sites
[YES] Can be packaged with other products
[YES] Can be sold
[YES] Can be broken into multiple chunks
[YES] Graphics and mini-site included
[YES] Can be offered through auction sites
[YES] Can be given to list subscribers
[NO] Can be given away on public download
[NO] Can sell Private Label Rights (PLR)

Let’s briefly look at what this example means. And remember, this is just one example of the rights you might have…

First, you can do many things with this product. You have many rights including the right to package, edit, sell and generally use the product in just about any way.

Second, there are some clear restrictions here. You cannot make this product available to the public for free. You need to sell it or
otherwise change or alter it before making it available for free or for sale. The other thing is that you cannot pass the PLR rights along to any customers.

Now, as you can imagine, there are many combinations here. You can give many rights when selling private label rights. And, you can get many rights when buying PLR. And of course, vice versa.

This complexity usually fools people when trying to figure out “What are private label rights?” PLR can be simple if you go through each of the rights, step by step. Now you have a pretty good idea what to expect. And, importantly, if you don’t have the rights, you can now ask for clarification from the seller. If you don’t get good answers… you should run away.

One last thing… if you understand these rights then you gain a real understanding of the value of private label rights. It’s the rights the really boost the bottom line value of PLR.
