Free vs. Premium PLR Products

When I first started out, like many newbie internet marketers, I was really attracted to Free Private Label Rights products. I figured that if I could make a profit by using free PLR products, I would eventually reinvest the profits into premium PLR products and hire out staff to grow the business.

So, I started creating marketing funnels around these free private label rights products…and, as I expected, I did see some sales…

…just not NEARLY as many as I could have.

You see, I did as I planned. I “played” the whole game. I took the profit from those Private Label Rights products and reinvested them into giant marketing systems, advertising, software, and more. Everything an internet business would need to become a super-charged website.

But, my profits didn’t grow. Not one penny. I was crushed.

I had to investigate…

After surveying our prospects, we found out that they REALLY wanted the information that we had to offer, but just not in the *form* that we were offering it.

In other words, they wanted the course to be quick, easy, simple to use, yet comprehensive at the same time. That made it clear to us. We absolutely had to reinvest in premium Private Label Rights.

The “free” PLR just wasn’t cutting it for our customers. We had…

* A higher refund rate
* A lower amount of returning customers
* A lower conversion rate on the sales page
* A less responsive e-mail list

Note: We WERE still making a profit…but we were selling ourselves short. Your profit margin is MUCH, MUCH higher when you use premium PLR products.

Why?

You can start to charge a LOT more for your products. You can combine them into high-end super packages (even DVD sets) and market the bejesus out of them.

Rather than making $500-$1,000 every month on free PLR products, we should have been making $5,000 or more…easily. We stifled the growth of our company simply because we chose not to invest a few dollars in our business – not a smart move.

Don’t do the same in your business. Invest wisely in high-quality Private Label Rights products. (See my previous posts about how to pick out high quality PLR products.)

Quality PLR has the right structure and content to work with. If you try to make a good product from free PLR you usually end up doing a lot more work to make it right.

If you time is worth anything you would be better off to start out with usable content that only needs to be reorganized and rewriten in your own voice.

Thanks for the post. Now what’s your favorite premium quality PLR provider?

    Yeah, Ken
But there’s one thing that I see good thing with free stuffs. I can set up the flow of the contents more wisely, if I pick up a few free stuff and mix them up.

You don’t have to start from scratch. And it saves time. Well, at least for me. . . .

It makes sense to me. A lot of the free stuff seems to have more fluff than facts. like they were writing just to hear themselves talk.

    Ken,

Right on, man! And, you definitely got the “your own voice” part right…that is ESSENTIAL to be successful with PLR.

    Marian,

We haven’t found any one source that is consistently reliable, unfortunately. There’s a huge need in the online market for high-quality PLR, so John and I are considering building a business that offers bigger and better PLR content than anyone else out there…it’s still in the planning phases, though. We already have the Simple PLR Club, but people are telling us they want more.

    Yuichi,

That’s exactly what I’m talking about in my post, though – sure, you CAN make money with free PLR…but why waste that time? You can always make more money…but you can never get time back.

    Craig Law,

If you’re just starting out, get a running start with our PLR Quick Cash System. It’s free and takes just a few minutes to read through. Look at the instructions in there, follow them, and make money. (The most important part is to actually DO IT.)

    Denise,

Yes, that’s a very accurate description…it’s fluff vs. real content. That’s where the problem lies.

    Thanks for the responses, guys!

    All the best,
    Matt

Using premium PLR articles is better. They don’t get the web saturation which of course is very undesirable for SEO purposes.

I like to use PLR sites as a means of generating ideas for niches. After conducting research I come up with a problem/hook to create a product around. I will then search out PLR on the topic for research to use when writing the new product. IMO it is a mistake to roll out PLR without making it my own. Just my 2 cents.
